Offered as a part of Lucky Ten Young Talent Studio’s dance technique classes, learning to tap dance will improve your skills in all aspects of the performing arts, from rhythm and movement, to posture, style and stage presence. The beginner tap class will teach the basic steps and sounds that make up all tap movements. Students will be encouraged to make the correct sounds and movements, and to learn different rhythms and ways of counting music. Each level builds on the steps of previous levels, introducing improvisation as well as posture and using other parts of the body. Tap shoes are required, and it is recommended that students have a place at home to practice (such as a piece of wood layed on the floor). Learn classic tap steps such as the Time Step, Shim Sham Shimmy and more as you “Shuffle off to Buffalo,” just like the greats: Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Ann Miller, Gregory Hines and Savion Glover! Dance routines will be taught for the many shows throughout the year. For Ages 7 and up — Ask about private lessons and adult classes too!
