Tap

Make music with your feet!

Offered as a part of Lucky Ten Young Talent Studio’s dance technique classes, learning to tap dance will improve your skills in all aspects of the performing arts, from rhythm and movement, to posture, style and stage presence.

The beginner tap class will teach the basic steps and sounds that make up all tap movements. Students will be encouraged to make the correct sounds and movements, and to learn different rhythms and ways of counting music. Each level builds on the steps of previous levels, introducing improvisation as well as posture and using other parts of the body. Tap shoes are required, and it is recommended that students have a place at home to practice (such as a piece of wood layed on the floor).

Learn classic tap steps such as the Time Step, Shim Sham Shimmy and more as you “Shuffle off to Buffalo,” just like the greats: Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Ann Miller, Gregory Hines and Savion Glover! Dance routines will be taught for the many shows throughout the year.

For Ages 7 and up — Ask about private lessons and adult classes too!

Acting

Dear Parents, Family and Friends,

I am very excited to be returning for the second year, teaching acting at 'Lucky Ten' Young Talent Studio.  Last year, students were introduced to basic acting techniques and applied them to rehearsal and performance.  Including acting, in our students program, showed immediate result in Broadway Night, Our Annual Show and our first opera, “The Marriage of Figaro”. These skills also helped them achieve a higher level of confidence, social skills, help to develop the imagination, stage presence, communication, creativity, team building and individual artistic expression which will directly effect their ability in school, as well as, performing in festivals and their level of competition.

This year we celebrate 5 years!  We wish to offer our students much more including hip-hop, ballet, tap, opera, master classes, private coaching, summer classes, a chance to travel and compete both nationally and internationally. I am introducing multi-media for the fall.  In order for our students to be able to compete at these levels and continue to grow in performance as young artists, it is so important that they add these skills in acting, in order to be able to achieve their full potential and talent at the highest level.  This year too, the instructors will be collaborating so that vocal, dance and acting will be team coached in rehearsal and performance.  You already saw the result of this last year in Figaro and we are bringing it back again in December!

Now, for what is new!  This year I plan to continue with basic acting techniques and all levels are welcome; younger groups and teens.  We will be working on multi-media projects this year resulting in screenings of our work during performance dates.  Students will be introduced to acting for the camera, auditioning technique and a final project for the end of the year.  They will learn about acting in commercials, film and television.  Our final project will be learning how to write, create and produce our own music video for Lucky Ten Studio that can be used on Utube. All of this is in celebration of 5 years and your dedication and loyalty to the school, has made this possible.  We have so much more plans for the future.  So, I hope you will consider acting for your children this year! It is going to be very exciting!  We also do give a discount for those who bring a friend, so bring your friends too!  We wish to have larger classes and to raise the level of performance even higher!  I look forward to seeing all of you this year and if you have any questions, always feel free to contact me directly.

Sincerely Yours,
